Chapter 3 - Close Call

Kinya motioned for Peter to duck. He looked confused for a second, but then he noticed Ms. Shooley. Quickly, he crawled under a desk in the first row. When no one was looking, he went the second row. Then the third. There 30 kids in the class, and the desks were arranged in ten rows of three. Peter’s desk, in between Kinya And Emma’s, was in the tenth row. While Kinya waited, she talked to Emma about the lizards. What was taking Peter so long? Finally, Ms. Shooley said “okay, I hope everyone fudgeificated their lizard at least once. I’m going to ask a question to see how much really know about this spell.” Lesley looked under her desk, then mouthed to Kinya, “he’s coming.”
“Here’s the question: what happens if you’re too excited when you cast fedgeificate?” Ms. Shooley asked. A few hands went up. Peter slipped into his chair just as Ms. Shooley looked in their direction. The problem was, he came up with his hand raised. Ms. Shooley called on him. ”um…. .” after all that happened in the last 15 minutes, he somehow didn’t know the answer. Kinya looked at him and mouthed “it’s a fudge world after all.” Peter smiled.
“the world turns into fudge.” He answered.
